Cancun was developed in the early 1970’s as a tourism area. It is a coastal city located in the eastern Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the bays of Nichupte and Bojorquez. Known for its white sandy beaches and clear blue waters, Cancun has become a popular resort vacation destination for people from around the world.
The Blue Bay Getaway and Spa is set on a long stretch of these white sandy beaches and surrounded by lush tropical gardens. This all-inclusive resort offers packages that cater to both singles and couples. The Blue Bay Getaway and Spa is located in the heart of the downtown hotel district. Each of its 220 rooms comes with a beach or floral view and a balcony. Recipients of the Distintivo "H", the Blue Bay Getaway earns the highest of recognitions offered to the food and beverage industry, bestowed upon only those resorts that meet established international health and hygiene standards.
The Blue Bay Getaway is a more casual resort and most of your meals will be provided by the buffet. However, guests are given “credit” for a certain number of meals in one of the three a la carte specialty restaurants based on their length of stay: for a 2-4 night stay guests get 1 credit; for a 5-6 night stay guests get 2 credits; for a 7-13 night stay guests get 3 dinners; and for a 14 day stay guests get 6 dinners. However, food and non-alcoholic drinks are available 24-hours a day through the more casual venues and alcoholic beverages are available until 1:00 a.m.
The Blue Bay Getaway has three beautiful pools: the quiet pool, the sports pool and the wild pool for adult fun. Each pool has its own jacuzzi. Guests can participate in a variety of non-motorized water sports, including windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba or sunfish sailboats. Scuba lessons are provided. Motorized water sports are also available but these cost extra. In addition to the water sports, there is tennis, bikes, a gym, themed activities, a game room, nearby golf course and free transportation to the sister resort and its facilities. Guests are required to pay an additional fee for golfing. The resort also provides complimentary transportation downtown for shopping or the nightlife.
On-site spa services are fairly standard and include massage, manicure, pedicure, facials, and wraps. At times, more exotic fare with a Caribbean/Mexican flavor can be offered. One thing to note, however, guests must be twenty-one or older to stay at the Blue Bay.
