Spas Implementing Local Fruit Skin Treatments
Think local is often a trend when it comes to food these days. Spas are taking it to a new level as they think local by using locally grown fruit in skin treatments.
It seems there is always a trend when it comes to spas. The new one is based on the very basic idea of what makes any one spa different from another. The levels of service are so high these days that it often just comes down to personal preference. That leaves a lot to chance, particularly in this economy, and spas have begun focusing on what makes them unique – their local community.
Spas are now incorporating the local resources they have into their treatments. Spas in places like Florida are showing a strong citrus oriented blend in their treatments be they directly or offshoots mixed into creams and such. Spas in California, in contrast, are incorporating avocados and other locally grown produce into their wraps, rubs and so on as the local flavor is incorporated into the basic spa treatments for a more defined feel.
There is a downside to this new trend, particularly in areas where the seasons are strikingly different. The local growing periods are also, obviously, seasonal. This means certain spa treatment offerings are not going to be available year around, something that can be more than annoying if you take the time to come in to town to only find that the service you are expecting in unavailable.
Will the local resource trend become a staple of spas as we move forward through 2010 and the next few years? It is unlikely. Spas have traditionally focused on the best quality resources regardless of where they are. The freshness is certainly an issue, but hardly the paramount one compared to quality.
