Zillah Resorts
Making Zillah your vacation destination this year? Unfortunately, the Zillah resort community is largely still under construction, but you still have some options if you don’t want to wait.
Zillah Resorts
Zillah is located in central Washington along the Zillah River in the Yakima Valley. The Yakima Valley boasts 300 days of sunshine with less than 10 inches of rainfall each year. The valley is also know for its hiking, fishing, snow skiing, fly-fishing, water skiing, white-water rafting, hunting, golfing, and cycling.
Projected for a 2008 opening are two major resorts in Zillah. The first, Zillah Lakes Resort will primarily be a high-end housing development. However, there will be condos built to accommodate traffic to the beautiful nine-hole 3326-yard golf course. Just north of Zillah will be the Vineyards Resort. This property is currently under development. At completion it will include a 7561-yard 18-hole golf course and a 100-condo hotel. It will also boast a full-service spa resort on the top of Rattlesnake Ridge as well as a high-end retail area.
If you want to visit the wine country in Yakima Valley now, your choices will be the standard hotel chains or the quainter B&B’s. Located directly in Zillah is the Cherry Wood Bed and Breakfast and Barn. As implied by the title, visitors can bring their horses on vacation and board them in the barn at the Cherry Wood. The Cherry Wood is a functioning farm. If coming in the spring, visitors will be treated to thousands of spring blossoms whereas fall visitors can experience the joys of fresh apples. The Cherry Wood has a pool and a porch swing and a quaint olden times feel. Visitors can ride their horses or drive their cars to any of the 10 wineries within a 10-mile radius. Some food is included in the room price, such as fresh fruits that are in season, afternoon tea, dessert, fruit, non-alcoholic beverage, and wine/cheese. Other amenities include riding clinics and women’s day spa retreats. You can contact the Cherry Wood at 509-829-3500.
Nearby is the Apple Country B&B. This historic and roomy inn offers country living, bird watching, nearby access to the vineyards and orchards, a 15-mile bike track, free fly-fishing lessons and gourmet food. The Apple Country B&B can be reached at 509-972-3409.
There are several more B&B’s located in and among the orchards and vineyards. Some are more sports oriented, others are geared towards romance, and other are focused on family fun. It is best to check with the individual B&B’s to see what events they are offering throughout the year. It is the success of these inns and B&B’s that has given rise to the development of Zillah resorts.
